You%27re coming to Spain to visit your friend Teresa, but unfortunately she has to do something else. She at least gives you the keys from her place and very essential thing - a Spanish phrasebook. That is how a Spanish language course for very beginners called Mi vida loca (My crazy life) made in BBC production is starting. You can watch 22 videos introducing you to both Spanish and to Spain but you%27re also becoming a part of an adventurous story.
You arrives to the place and find out that there is already someone living. It%27s Teresa’s sister Merche and she turns out to be a very good host. Unluckily she is doing on some dangerous project for her newspapers and often has to disappear. You%27re visiting cafés, restaurant and interesting places with her and you have time to do some sightseeing; when she%27s gone. You are not lost at anyplace, because the phrasebook you got is an interactive video guide who helps you understand, make answers, tells you where you are and also gives you easy exercises to make yourself comfortable with Spanish.
The course is brilliantly made and the story comes out from a genius. Every step is there in order to teach you Spanish or to show you a part of Spain. Soon you understand that Merche is being followed by a mysterious guy and it%27s probably because of her job, but you are learning Spanish even from him. Very nice feature is that video reacts to your choices for example when you order in the restaurant they bring you what you chose. The story also motivates you to go further and to find out what is happening and if you can help Merche.
During the course you gets encountered with most of the basic situations. Ordering in a bar, taking a taxi, buying a ticket, asking for directions, staying at the hotel, borrowing a car or going to the pharmacy. Your phrasebook video guide is there always ready to help, emphasize important facts and constantly asking you to use Spanish.
Because everything is taking place in Spain and it%27s a video lesson you%27ll get to know plenty of places in Madrid, Medina de Rioseco and island Grand Canaria. Merche takes you to see the Royal Palace; you will go with her in cable-railway over Madrid, visit canal in Medina or a natural reservation at Grand Canaria island.
Each lesson starts with an overview of what have already happened and then there is a new interactive story and finally you can review vocabulary, grammar and take some exercises. At the end you can take a big test after which you can read Merche%27s article, which is the main topic of the story. You can also think if someone was betraying her and make your proposal.
We hope you will enjoy this course, however if you%27re at a bit higher level you might find it too easy for you. Still there are some nice views of Spain which are worth repeating the basics.
